Open the Book– continues to lead the assemblies at both junior schools in Brockworth once every two weeks. Brockworth Primary Academy is visited on a Tuesday and Castle Hill School on a Thursday. Both teams are made very welcome by pupils and staff alike.
The ‘Open the Book’ project (now part of The Bible Society) celebrates 20 years since it’s foundation this year and 16,000 storytellers visit 3000 schools nationally, Reaching 800,000 children. Both of our teams here in Brockworth are ecumenical with members from St George’s Church, St Patrick’s Church and The United Reform Church. The Castle Hill School team have been leading their assemblies for 10 years this year and Brockworth Primary Academy team for 9 years so long may we continue.
This is the scripture on which the OtB programme is based. So many children do not hear a Bible story from anywhere else these days, and numbers of children in our Sunday Schools is dwindling. OtB takes the stories to the children where we know they are – in school.
